When you first load in a new book project that includes a cover, you will see the guidelines page from Amazon KDP.
This is helpful to know where the cutoffs are on your book, but may make it difficult to design a proper cover.
In order to remove the KDP guidelines page, or temporarily hide it, please follow these simple steps.
Just FYI you can leave this showing and it will not be transfered to your PDF. So you don't have to worry about that.
Step 1: When a new project is loaded that includes a cover page, go to the top menu bar, and select the cover template opacity:
Step 2: If you wish to keep the template but make it easier to overlay your graphics and text, use the cover template opacity slider and slide it slowly towards 0. The further you go, the more transparent it will be.
Notice how the template is still seen, but very faint:
Note: Even if you keep the template visible, this will NOT download on your final copy when you download your cover and interior to upload to KDP.
Step 3: If you would like to completely remove the template, check the box to hide the KDP cover template:
