Part 2 - I Just Want to Make a Book
If you're the kind of person who just wants to jump in and make books without going deep into tutorials or articles, that's okay, at least take a few minutes to review the basics below. If you ended up on this page and missed the start of this article, please click here to go back to the Intro.
If you're serious about learning and want to build a long-term business with the best and faster way to succeed, feel free to skip this part and head straight to Part 3. These “bare minimum” links are also listed in Part 4, but with more detail.
But first, just a gentle reminder, like anything else in life, starting a new job, learning a hobby, or picking up a new skill, learning takes time. You’ll make mistakes, ask questions, and gradually get better. But a lot of people treat KDP like it’s some magical shortcut: upload a book, collect royalties, and call it a day. That’s not how it works i reality
I get it—you’re excited. You’ve seen videos online that make it look fast and easy. That energy is real, I felt it too as you seen in Part 1, if you read it. But before you rush ahead, take a breath and think about what you're really doing here. You're creating books for other people, not for yourself in most cases. And that means your work needs to be thoughtful, researched, and well put together. The more you learn, the better your chances of real success.
That said, if you want to dive in and try things out, here’s how to create a test project in the Studio:
• Go to the dropdown menu: Project > New Project
• Project Name: Give it a name you’ll recognize
• Trim Size: Use 8.5" x 11" or 6" x 9", or whatever fits your book
• Page Count: Set it to 100 or however many pages you need
Important inks to check before you upload anything, these are must-reads if you're skipping the full learning route, at least in my opinion

If you feel lost at any point, do this:
• Click the “Create Your First Book” link in the top-right corner of the Studio
• When you download a project, look for the popup window that links to “While you wait, learn how to upload to Amazon KDP step by step.”
Good luck, and if you’re changed your mind and want to learn more, and you are ready to go deeper into doing this right, then click here Part 3 - You’re Ready to Learn, Start Here.
