You may get the message, the description field contains an unsupported HTML tag if you use HTML tags on step 1 of creating book.
They use to allow this in the past, so you could color lines of text and do other things. They have since stopped allowing most kinds of HTML.
When you mouse over format the description it says this "You can use the text editor or basic HTML to format your description. You can bold, italicize, or create new paragraphs. For details on how to do this, visit our Book Description guide."
Which takes you to this page https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G201189630
You can still do HTML, but really no reason to, because the only HTML they let you do, is at the top of description box, B, I, U, Numbering, Point form, Format (Heading Size). They don't allow colors anymore.
If you want to write stuff as HTML instead of using the boxes, then you must click source and enter it there. In the end again, it is no different then what they offer to the left of it, B, I, U, Numbering, Point form, Format (Heading Size).
